NSW needs Better Services for a Better State
NSW Facts
- Population: 7 million
- Size of public sector: 310,000 (full-time equivalent)
- Immigration: 98,300 overseas arrivals per year
- Babies born: 84,500 per year
- In NSW the proportion of population aged 65 years and over will double from 13.7% in 2005 to 24.8% in 2044
- Public service workforce ageing faster than the general population; the NSW public sector is ten years older than non-public sector workforce
The population of our state is booming at a record rate. We need to invest in better services to keep up.
The people of NSW want a plan for our growing state, which ensures our communities get the services they need.
This plan must commit funding for services and workers to increase in-line with the population.
This plan must look after public assets, instead of selling them off for quick money.
This plan must provide a long-term vision to build thriving communities.
And this plan must respect the frontline service workers who keep the state running and the support workers who back them up.
The primary role of the NSW Government must be to promote the common good; where communities thrive and people can live full and meaningful lives.
The Better State 5 Point Plan
We’re asking all politicians from all political parties to sign-up to the Better State 5 Point Plan, before the March 2011 election.
1. Invest in services
2. Look after public assets
3. Plan long-term
4. Back our workers
5. Govern for the common good
Join our campaign and tell our politicians that now is not the time for cuts and privatisation. It’s time to invest in Better Services for a Better State.
